JMC Aviation are working with a surface treatment company based in Chelmsford, looking to recruit a new Production Manager to join their team.
This client offers a range of surface treatments and non destructive testing, creating aerospace components using CNC Machines to fabricate sheet metal. This family run company provide an outstanding customer service and helping their employees progress within their roles.
This is a Permanent Position based in Chelmsford.

The Role
The Production Operative will be responsible for managing the smooth running of production in a well-regarded and growing Aerospace Surface Treatments facility while maintaining Quality, Cost, Safety, and people.
Other duties involve:
– Develop and implement Production Plans to meet Production targets
– Utilize labour efficiently, ensuring productivity is maximized
– Assessing resource requirements and set plans for required training/Personal Improvement Plans and/or overtime
– Manage throughput and labour to meet production demands in all areas
– Oversee production processes to ensure quality standards, safety regulations and environmental guidelines are adhered to
– Liaising with both Internal and External Customers, providing timescales or schedules for delivery
– Create production schedules through Microsoft Excel/ERP System for various Internal and External customers
– Liaising with indirect Production Planning/Production Control and direct Team Leader/Supervisors to ensure on time in full is met
– Supervising and overseeing the work of production staff, providing guidance, training and working with the Operations Manager on performance evaluations/appraisals
– Mentoring direct employees
– Identify areas of improvement, and bottlenecks while helping implement solutions
– Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of production equipment and machinery is carried out
– Collaborate with the Purchasing Department to ensure adequate supply of raw materials
– Attend daily standups and DMBs
– Maintain quality standards, and that processes are in line with the QMS.
– Collaborate with Quality Department to record scrap and rework.
– Ensure effective housekeeping via spot checks/audits/stock counts
Skills and experience required.
In order to be successful in this role the Production Manager will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
– Previous experience in a Supervisory/ Production Management role in a Surface Treatments/Paint facility
– Sufficient Surface Treatment experience preferable
– Proven experience of Resource Planning
– Track record of Continuous Improvement
– Experience with LEAN Manufacturing or similar
– Ability to work additional hours on a Friday as and when required
– Support in the Implementation of the Epicor Kinetic ERP System
– Using own initiative to drive and improve Production throughput
– Proficient in Microsoft Office Package
– Right to Work in UK
