JMC Aviation area working with a Maintenance Repair Organisation based in Chester who are looking to recruit a new Estimator to play a crucial role in the quoting and pricing process, ensuring accurate cost estimates for aircraft maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
The responsibilities of the Estimator will involve:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates for aircraft maintenance, repairs, inspections, modifications, and overhauls.
- Accurately assess labour, parts, tooling, materials, and subcontracted services required for each project.
- Coordinating with engineers, technicians, and procurement teams to gather necessary technical data and input for accurate cost projections.
- Reviewing technical work scopes, maintenance requests, and aircraft service bulletins (SBs), airworthiness directives (ADs), and OEM manuals to ensure the full scope of work is captured in estimates.
- Ensuring compliance with aviation regulatory standards (FAA, EASA) and internal quality control processes.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients during the quoting process, addressing any questions, concerns, or clarifications regarding the estimate.
- Providing clear, concise, and professional proposals, explaining cost breakdowns and any recommended work.
- Obtaining quotes from vendors and suppliers for materials, parts, and services required for each estimate.
- Negotiating favourable terms and pricing with third-party vendors to ensure cost efficiency.
- Monitoring project costs during the maintenance and repair process to ensure alignment with the original estimate.
- Investigating any deviations from the original quote and provide recommendations for cost adjustments if necessary.
- Assisting in maintaining cost databases and historical data for future reference and estimate accuracy.
- Working closely with the project management team to ensure smooth handover of project details once the estimate is approved.
- Reporting on estimate accuracy and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Preparing detailed reports for management summarising estimation processes, project profitability, and variance analysis.
In order to be successful in this role, the Estimator will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- 3-5 years of experience in aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) estimation or similar roles within the aerospace industry.
- Strong technical understanding of aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with OEMs, suppliers, and subcontractors in the aviation industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools, such as Quantum, Corridor, or similar MRO platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with clients, internal teams, and vendors.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Attention to detail.
- Authority to live and work in the UK.
